Pectoral Fin

$60

‘Pectoral Fin’ is a bold and graphic representation of a humpback whale’s side fin. If you have ever been whale watching you may have witnessed a fin slap, where a humpback lifts its enormous side fin in the air and slaps it on the surface of the ocean. This print can be combined with ‘Up Close‘ to form a diptych – 2 side-by-side coordinating artworks.

Some of the colours conjure the deep blues and greens of the pacific west coast, the summer feeding grounds of many humpbacks. The brighter turquoise hues depicts the more tropical waters of Hawaiian and Southern breeding territories. This design is also featured as a digital print on tea towel fabric.

Original, limited edition of 50 18″ x 12″ print on 22″ x 15″ paper. This can be framed in a standard 13″ x 19″ frame, or 18″ x 24″ frame with a matte with a 13″ x 19″ cutout.

Linocut is a printmaking technique, similar to woodcut. A design is cut into a piece of linoleum with sharp knives and chisels. Ink is rolled over the linoleum surface and then press onto paper. Printing can be done by hand or with a press.
