The Substance + The Shadow | Book Design
This book is published by Pennsylvania State University Press. It was originally published in 1878 as "La proie et l'ombre" and features a thinly disguised Paul Cézanne as the main character. The new translation includes an introductory essay, which provides an in-depth analysis of the book in an historical context. Since the book had not been published in 130 years, a bold, modern approach was chosen to bring it up to date. I designed this book at StepUp Communications in Vancouver.
